CHICAGO, IL - Microhydraulics Inc. announced today that it has developed a complete active suspension corner unit.

The unit is used for active ride management in off highway cabs, particularly in the agricultural segment. The highly packaged device includes positional feedback, integral load cells, and high response hydraulic controls. It also includes a novel approach for supporting the passive load, eliminating the need for compressors and airbags.

With this degree of integration, several problem areas have been eliminated. Trapped volumes of oil are minimized through the use of the packaged valve technology, improving system response and ultimate comfort level for the passenger in the cab. Using noncontact feedback, the built in load cell extends reliability and endurance of the unit to meet or exceed the stringent needs of the mobile industry.

The innovative hydraulic porting in the device allows the passive load to be suspended with no external energy source. This eliminates the need for airbags or other forms of passive support. On some systems the air cushion approach adds considerable cost, operational quirks, and reliability problems.

Microhydraulics is actively seeking OEM applications for this technology, and expects to address needs in other market segments such as buses, automotive, and military use.
