CARY, NC - MTS Temposonics adds the new Temposonics E Series to its family of Temposonics magnetostrictive linear position sensors. Based on the principle of magnetostrictive sensing that MTS pioneered, the E Series provides proven non-contact and trouble-free Temposonics performance at very economical price levels. The first model in the E Series, the Temposonics EP, is a profile style sensor starting at less than $400. The Temposonics EP sensor is ideal for any application where linear potentiometers are currently used.

The Temposonics EP is ideal for applications where simple and economical analog position feedback is required. Typical applications are plastic injection and blow molding machinery as well as presses and other specialty machinery. The Temposonics EP can also be used as an economical retrofit sensor in applications where linear potentiometers are cuffently used. "This new addition to the MTS Temposonics product family makes Temposonics technology more affordable for users of less durable sensors," says Dennis Morrow, MTS Director of Marketing and Sales. "Our sensors are known universally for ruggedness and durability, as well as reliability and high performance. Because of its low cost, the E Series opens a new variety of applications not previously available to Temposonics."

Temposonics EP sensors are available with 0 to 10 Vdc output scale, and in stroke ranges from two to 60 inches in one-inch increments. A 24 Vdc power supply is required for operation. The position magnet is available in either a captive sliding or floating magnet configuration.

The E Series utilizes the MTS Temposonics SE (sensing element), which is the same building block all Temposonics sensor models use, including Temposonics III and L Series sensors. Linearity performance is </= 0.02% of filli scale or 0.002 inch, whichever is greater and repeatability is </= 0.0001% of ftill stroke. Update frequency is >1.5 kHz, the operating temperature range is -40'C to +75'C and the environmental rating is IP-65.
