April 3, 2000 - OMNEX Control Systems, Inc. of Port Coquitlam, BC has taken the guesswork out of getting consistent, precise control over electro-hydraulic on mobile and off-highway heavy equipment. The OMNEX D130, designed from the ground up and being unveiled at the IFPE/2000 Show, is a fully programmable computer driven 4-axis proportional hydraulic valve controller that will drive the electro-hydraulic valve industry into the next century. It's small, it's reliable and it's smart!

OMNEX President Ake Severinson says the D130 is the result of recognizing an existing deficiency in traditional electro-hydraulic controllers. "You had a situation where old technology was being used to drive more and more complex equipment in ever demanding situations." OMNEX engineers went back to the drawing board to devise a new approach. "We wanted to create an alternative to the joystick driver cards. The resulting D130 brings together the latest advances in technology and electronics, while adding unparalleled user friendliness and flexibility for the operator."

That time was well spent. The D130 is a rugged, microprocessor driven controller capable of handling 12 separate inputs, eight (8) current controlled outputs and a host of other features.

Adjusting the various functions on the D130 (current minimum and maximum, ramp up/down, etc.) is a snap. Preliminary adjustments are performed in the field, with the equipment running, using the faceplate mounted buttons, a digital voltmeter (DVM) and observing the high intensity LEDs. More complex adjustments are made in the field, or on the bench, via a simple RS232 cable and a laptop or palmtop computer. The proprietary QUICKSet™ software program is easy to use, WINDOWS/98 or WINDOWS CE compatible and features "drag & click" options.

Designed primarily for OEM applications, where ease of adjustment and consistency of final product is invaluable, the D130 is also suitable as a retrofit for after market installations. Says Severinson, "We started out to design and market a new product that will have as great a life-span as possible, so we not only looked at what was currently required from a valve driver, but at what the industry could possibly demand for a long time to come."
