| New 22 mm Stepper Motor Is Compact Powerhouse
Clearwater-FL --ARSAPE is presenting a new 2-phase Stepper Motor with a diameter of 22 mm and a very high power-to-volume ratio. The AM 2224 achieves an output of 2.5 W and a peak holding torque of 45 mNm a superior performance for this frame size (Ø 22 x 25.9 mm).
There are 3, 6, 12 and 24 Volt versions available as well as 0.25 A and 0.50 A. The motor executes the transmitted control signals with extreme accuracy. This allows an angular step of 15° (even smaller in micro-stepping). In an open control loop this makes it possible to run rotary speed profiles or build up a positioning control. The use of expensive servo components can usually be avoided. After switching off, the motor maintains its present position.
Like brushless motors, stepper motors do not have any mechanical commutation, so service life is only limited by the bearings.
In order to also exploit the advantages of this motor technology where more torque is required, the AM 2224 is available with matching speed reducers, e.g. the Planetary Gearhead Series 23/1 increases continuous torque to 0,7 Nm, and even to 1 Nm in intermittent operation.
