| Igus’ Standard Polymer Cable-Carrier Material Meets Class 1 Clean Room Requirements
Most cable carriers on the market easily fall into the less stringent Class 10 category, but with today’s advancements in clean room technology and applications, this is no longer enough. Because igus’ standard carrier material meets Class 1 criteria, delivieries for these applications are immediate, with no modifications, leading to faster, easier installations. The independendant particulation test involved a through-the-floor Class 1 clean room setup, measuring three separate carrier sections at >0.10, >0.20, >0.30, >0.50, >0.70 and >1.0 microns. Background counts were run periodically throughout the process and verified that the clean room conditions did not alter during testing. Each carrier section was measured for particulation at 15 points along a three-foot stroke, 20-inch/second linear apparatus, using a bending radius of 1.9 inches, simulating a common configuration for wafer handling systems and microchip production equipment. The carriers were tested through three trial analyses to create an average. In every case, the standard engineered polymer material, igumid G, used with all off-the-shelf igus Energy Chains, was well within Class 1 parameters.
