Integrated-SimpleStep Santa Clara, CA - By now, you have probably heard of Lin Engineering’s Simple Step 17. This new and innovative product, released this past year, is designed to allow for rapid implementation of stepper motors requiring automation. Now, Lin Engineering is adding to the simplicity of their Simple Step 17 by adding the Designer’s Kit.

The Designer’s Kit includes the Simple Step integrated motor, an RS485 to RS232 converter card, a db-9 female connector cable, a switch push button, an Opto Sensor, a 4-pin connector for the converter card, extra wiring for I/O and a cd-rom.

The step accuracy of this stepper is +/- 1.5 arc minutes compared It can be set to execute a preset string of commands upon power up which can be issued from any serial terminal program (such as Microsoft ® Hyper Terminal software) or from the Simple Step Windows application. Commands include nested loops and execution halt pending a switch closure. The Simple Step is also capable of stand alone operation with no connection to a PC.

Some of the fully programmable features include but are not limited to: stand alone operation with no connection to a PC; automatic execution of stored commands upon power up; daisy chain up to 16 units of Simple Step 17; fully programmable ramps and speeds; up to 64 micro stepping resolution; bipolar control; two digital I/O and two fixed input channels; up to 85 oz-in torque. Please see the company website www.linengineering.com for technical specifications as well as downloadable Simple Step commands, quick reference guides, a windows application example and a Simple Step manual.

As every step motor has a resonance frequency, Lin Engineering removes the motor resonance frequency away from your operating frequency (speed) assuring smooth motion. Lin Engineering also provides 0.9° and 0.45° motors that are 2 and 4 times better resolution than a standard 1.8° step motor.

Lin Engineering has earned the reputation as the technical leader in step motor design with the ability to “Maximize Torque at Desired Speed..”

Founded by Ted T. Lin in 1987, Lin Engineering began as a consulting company specializing in step motor applications. Throughout the company’s history, it has continued to develop its capabilities in the areas of design engineering, manufacturing and customer service. Lin Engineering has developed its product line to include drivers, optical encoders, power supplies, spur and planetary gearboxes, and integrated step motor drives.
