Provides long life in a miniscule package

Fall River, MA -- Maxon's new "EC 06" brushless, "pancake" motors are electronically commutated, thus enabling extremely long motor life, since there are simply no mechanical brushes to wear out. A ruby bearing also adds to the longevity of the motor.

The 6-mm (0.24 in) diameter motor is only 3.75 mm (0.15 in) in height (not including shaft), yet provides 30 milliwatts of output power. The maximum continuous torque output is 0.019 mNm (0.003 oz-in) while the maximum speed is 20,000 rpm. The motor weighs in at a miniscule 0.32 g (0.01 oz) and the ambient temperature rating is -40° to 80° C (-40° to 176° F).

Due to their extremely small size, Maxon's 6-mm pancake motors are particularly suitable for optical, laser, and bio-medical applications, test & measurement devices, and miniature robotics. Control electronics are also available.
