Mattituck, NY - The new Ultra Motion “Digit” series.of compact motion control linear actuators provides the user with power, speed and precision. Available in stroke lengths of 2, 4 and 8 in. (51, 102 and 203 mm) these compact in-line actuators can provide up to I 00 lbs of force (445 N), speed to 5 in./sec. (I 27 nurdsec.) and repeatability to 0.0001in. (0.0025 mm). Totally enclosed, these motion control actuators are available in a variety of motor and drive screw combinations. Acme or precision ball screws, directly coupled to a 2 or 5 phase stepper motor in NE@ frame sizes of 17 and 23, provide the user with the ability to specify a precision linear actuator sized correctly for their application.

Motor/screw combinations can be selected that will provide zero backlash as well as combinations that cannot be back-driven. A “Digit” linear actuator with a NEMA 17 stepper is just 1. 65 in. (41.9 mm) square x 1. 8 5 in, (47 mm) long at the motor end with a 1.25 in. (26.7 mm) diameter shaft. The overall length is only 6 in. (I 52 mm) longer than the stroke length. Home position sensing can be accomplished with either reed switches or hall effect sensors. The operating temperature range is -400 F to 1 500 F (-400C to 65’C). Optionally, analog or digital position feedback can be provided. Analog feedback is absolute (not incremental) and can be supplied with either 1% or 0. 1% linearity.

The “Digit” motion control linear actuators are available with matching controllers and drivers for full, half step and micro-stepping operation. The stainless steel actuator shaft is sealed so that no contamination can enter or exit the housing and it can be washed down making this series ideal for clean room and medical applications. Radiation hardened units and units suitable for vacuum environments are also available.
