Fall River, MA -- Maxon's new "RE" series of motors uses powerful rare earth magnets and graphite brushes to maximize torque available in a 26 mm (1 in) diameter package. The patented rhombic moving coil design provides for long life, low electrical noise, fast acceleration and high efficiency. The ironless rotor allows for zero cogging and simple accurate control. Rated at 18 watts, the motor is 59 mm (2.32 in) in length and weighs in at 150 g (5.3 oz). The motor has several different windings available to match desired speed with available voltage. Maximum speed is 11,000 RPM, while the maximum efficiency is 86% depending on the winding. Ambient temperature range is from -20 degrees to 100 degrees C (-4 degrees to 212 degrees F). Matching gearheads are also available with ratios ranging from 3.7:1 to 6285:1 capable of delivering 6.75 Nm (956 oz-in) of intermittent torque. Tachometers and encoders are also available for the motor.
