DAYTON, OH – Stegmann’s AG626 Absolute Encoder is now DeviceNet compatible. The AG626-DN provides absolute position verification even if a power supply is interrupted, RPM value with time stamp and 16 CAM outputs.

This absolute encoder utilizes a magnetic platform, which provides several key advantages over optical platform systems. It can withstand shock to 100g’s, while most optical systems typically handle 20 - 50g’s. The AG626-DN offers extremely high resistance to environmental contamination and EMI/RFI noise due to its magnetic design and tightly sealed construction. Additionally, this encoder is more durable and is typically priced less than its optical platform-based competition.

The AG626-DN can handle temperature extremes from -20&Mac176; to 85&Mac176;C, making it suitable for a diverse range of applications, including: steel making/foundry equipment; printing presses; machine tools; automatic storage and retrieval systems; overhead cranes; valve position controls; tire making equipment; robotics and automation systems.

The AG626-DN comes with programmable resolutions up to 13 bit single-turn or 26 bit multi-turn, features a 60mm diameter housing and offers servo or face mount options (6mm or 10mm shaft with face mount). The absolute resolution and zero point are programmable over the DeviceNet network, and bus termination can be handled externally or via DeviceNet. Additional features include status indicator lights, complete diagnostics, and connection via a single or dual 5 pin micro connector or cable gland entry to the terminal box.

Absolute encoders, including the AG626-DN, eliminate the need for a homing sequence on startup, at routine intervals during operation or when power and equipment failures occur. This is especially important in safety-critical applications or in applications that are processing expensive raw material due to the threat of damage during an unplanned homing routine.
